Interstate Batteries Warehouse Scanner Migration
May 2019
Interstate Batteries has warehouses all across the United States and it is extremely important for business that inventory gets counted correctly and on time.
There had been an issue with the previous handheld scanners that the company had been using. Scanners would break constantly, give error messages, and had connectivity issues. These scanners were also more than 5 years old, which is appropriate age for an upgrade.
I was chosen to be the bridge between the first level technical support and the developmental operations team. My role was to report every new issue with the new scanners to developmental operations team so any bugs that were missed can be corrected as the new scanners reached each facility.
New scanners were sent out to groups of warehouses at a time and each warehouse was scheduled for training. This transition took over a month to complete.
